Lost wax casting
Millenary tradition and modern precision
Lost-wax microcasting is one of the most fascinating and ancient techniques of metalworking, used since ancient times to create art objects, sculptures and jewels of extraordinary refinement. Today, this technique finds new life in the laboratories of Etruria Accessori, where artisan knowledge and modern technologies meet to guarantee results of the highest quality.
The process begins with the creation of a wax model, obtained from a mold or modeled by hand, which represents in every detail the jewel to be created. This model is then covered with a special refractory coating which, once solidified, forms a resistant shell. By heating the shell, the wax melts and is “lost”, leaving a perfect void inside the mold: hence the name of the technique.
The molten metal is poured into the void left by the wax, filling the space with extreme precision, capturing every minute detail of the original model. Once cooled and freed from the mold, the metal piece is finished by hand with care and mastery, until it achieves the desired appearance.
Lost-wax microfusion allows for complex shapes, sophisticated textures and minute details that are impossible to achieve with other techniques. For Etruria Accessori, it is much more than a process: it is a bridge between past and future, between creativity and technique, between dream and matter.
